July Wrap-Up & August TBR | I blinked, July ended and now it’s August???

Greetings readers!

Here we are, after quite a while. Life has been a little bit crazy this past week for some personal reasons that I’ll mention later, but I’m backish…

I’ll be honest, blogging will be kind of slow for me for the next week or two. It doesn’t help that I am behind on a lot of posts and I read faster than I write!

As for this wrap-up…it’s gonna be short considering its only accounting for the last two weeks of July after my vacation!

What Rendz Read

Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young

Queen of Ruin by Tracy Banghart
This was a solid sequel to Grace and Fury which I read last year. It was fierce and heartfelt, I really enjoyed it. Full review to come.

The Merciful Crow by Margaret Owen
Wow. Okay I have so many thoughts for this book and at the same time I don’t know exactly what to say. Rest assured they are GOOD THOUGHTS. Full review to come!

Other Going Ons

I watched The Lion King Live Action

Well yes…live action is a stretch. It’s still an animated version just more realistic. And I enjoyed myself, I did. Was it absolutely mind blowing? Mmm no. Why? I’m sure you’ve heard other people say it, it’s the lack of emotion on the faces that really got me. The voices were fine, it was the exaggeration in the eyes and mouths that I missed. Otherwise, most of the iconic lines were there. Notice I say most and not all. It was a good adaptation and it truly stayed faithful for the most part but I still feel like it was missing something.

I went to an Amusement Park

It has been years since I last went to an amusement park. I’m lucky to live not too far from one since it lies just on the outskirts of the city. If you didn’t know, I love–ABSOLUTELY ADORE–rollercoasters and thrill rides. Everything that goes fast is my perfect cup of tea! It was such an amazing day.

I Got My Wisdom Teeth Removed

Hence my recent absence. It wasn’t too painful but I just haven’t had the energy to write or stare at the computer for long. I am still going at it slow, but hopefully within the coming week I will have some more posts coming up!

I honestly have a plan that I 100% know I am not going to be able to stick to. Why? Because I have my moods and lots of these books are big, but it’s my last month before I go back to school so I am trying to make the absolute most of it!

The Girl the Sea Gave Back by Adrienne Young
Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
There Will Come a Darkness by Katy Rose Pool
Rage of Dragons by Evan Winter
The Caged Queen by Kristen Ciccarelli
Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor

Lol Rendz. You think far too highly of yourself.

Q: How ambitious do you get with your tbrs?

Because I am always tooooo ambitious. Take a look at my stack for August. Take a good look.

Now add in another hardcover about the size of The Ten Thousand doors of January and add in another two paperbacks about the thickness of The Girl the Sea Gave Back.

Because that is what my TBR actually looks like and this photo is a lie.

Of course I want to get to all of these books but I just know I won't so... Here we are.

I'd love to hear what you'd pick to read if you were faced with this monstrous stack!

July Wrap-Up and August TBR |The month of 3 stars and 0 motivation. Sigh.

Greetings readers!

Well here I am again. Another month gone by. Another TBR that I didn’t finish. But what else is new?? How about all the good books I got? All the great posts I wrote? How about the fact that this was my birthday month?? Well…bother.

I had a major reading slump this month. Everything I read had a greyish feel. It was all three stars, three stars, three stars. I mean some of the reads were not all that bad, but nothing blew me away this month. And do I even mention how sad my book mail was this month. Because it was ever so sad.

In relation to how I am personally doing. I’m great. The birthday was actually pretty fun and I made the $$$ so I will be treating myself to some books! YESERY.

What Rendz Read

Lifel1k3 by Jay Kristoff
A fun sci-fi read with such a twisty ending that saved it from being a 3 star. My Full Review.

When Life Gives You Demons by Jennifer Honeybourn
This was quite fun and I enjoyed it. Not my usual read, but sometimes you gotta step put of the box. My Full Review.

When Life Gives You Demons

Kiss of the Royal by Lindsey Duga
It was okay. Not as epic as I was hoping though. My Full Review.

Kiss of the Royal

Grace and Fury by Tracy Banghart
This was actually a 4 star! I had fun with this and am looking forward to the next one! My Full Review.

Game of Secrets by Kim Foster
Okay so this suffered from its tropes, but it was a nice historical fantasy. Review to come.

Kingdom of Ash and Soot by C. S. Johnson
I had a good time with it for the most part. Review to come.

Royals by Rachel Hawkins
This was good. Just what I needed to lift my spirits at the end of the month! Review to come!

The Haul

Did I mention how I got like zero book mail this month??? It’s not that I am no longer getting any publisher love, it’s that I realized how much I need to catch up on, so my requesting game has gone down a bit.

The only thing I can haul this month is Vicious by V. E. Schwab which I bought as a b-day present to me!

Do you know how much I have suffered these past couple of weeks with nothing to look forward to in the mail?! Le sighhhhh

Some fanart that I published this month was an entry for the Create the Crew Contest, hosted by Sara Raasch for her new book coming this August, These Rebel Waves!

You can find it on Instagram and take a look at the close ups!!

It’s a comic strip of one of the excerpts Sara has published!

August TBR

I am honestly at a big loss here. I have soooooooooo many things to get through in August. Lot’s of ARCs that need my attention are clamouring at me, then there are books that I have that I want to read for my own pleasure as I feel like I haven’t read a book solely because I wanted to in a long time.

That being said I’ll have two TBRs this month. One for “work” and one for “pleasure”.

Mirage by Samaiya Daud
Confessions of a Teenage Leper by Ashley Little
Open Mic Night at Westminister Cemetery by Mary Amato
The Magic of Melwick Orchard by Rebecca Caprara
Give the Dark My Love by Beth Revis
A Mark Unwilling by Candace Wondrak

Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo
Batman: Nightwalker by Marie Lu
Catwoman: Soulstealer by Sarah J. Maas
Grave Mercy by Robin Lafevers

Wow I am literally gonna get none of this done because I have so many other things going on in August. I have school, a wedding, family coming over and if my slump goes on further…I will find myself with zero motivation again. Wish me luck.

That’s it for me! Let me know what you think! What was your favourite read of the month? What books did you get? What book are you looking forward to this month?

Happy reading!

July Wrap-Up/ Haul & August TBR

Greetings readers!

For some reason, July and August got a little hectic when the months transitioned over. I feel like I have been a very lazy blogger and my reading pace kind of deteriorated towards the end of July! To say the least, I’ve been quite busy these past two weeks. But I am glad to be blogging again and I have some fun things planned so hopefully I can get to them!

Wrap Up

So as promised way back in the Spring, I would be getting to a lot more books in July than any other month in the year. It’s summer, so I am on vacation and my library visits usually end up with me leaving with many, many books.

So this month I read:

The Duke of Bannerman Prep by Katie A. Nelson

I really enjoyed this one. It is a Great Gatsby retelling with a Debate team twist. So I definitely recommend you to check it out! My Mini Review

lib haul june

The Hundredth Queen by Emily R. King

It was an enjoyable read. I definitely wished there was a bit more mythology, but I am looking forward to the next one (even though I have my worries about it.) My Full Review

Cinder by Marissa Meyer

This was a reread for the Ya Book Bloggers Club on Goodreads! I still loved it, and I am so looking forward to continuing my re-read of the series!!! I wrote a special post for this book. A Moment of Fangirling: Cinder If you are a fan of this series, I definitely hope you check it out!

Zero Repeat Forever by G.S. Prendergast

This is Canadian YA! (super YAY) It is a sci-fi, apocalyptic story with elements of Beauty & the Beast and I really liked it! It releases this month, so I definitely would recommend you check it out. My Full Review

The Book of Whispers by Kimberley Starr

This was a fun and cute read. If you want a little adventure in the time of the crusades, this one is good. My Full Review

Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

The temptation was too strong so I re-read this before any other books! I still loved it! How could I not? So much epicness!!!!! My fangirling post went up so please check it out! A Moment of Fangilring: Scarlet

Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas

AKA the book Rendz forced herself to read so that she can read Tower of Dawn (A book all about Chaol!) I didn’t like it, despite enjoying some parts of it. You can read all about my unpopular opinions in my review. Lots of funny gifs were used XP My Full Review

The Last of August by Brittany Cavallaro

This is the sequel to A Study in Charlotte which I really loved! I enjoyed this one as well and I am looking forward to the next one!!!  My Full Review

The Ninth Circle by C.A. Harland

Not my favourite book of the month. I was expecting so much more from the pretty cover! My Mini Review

The Lovely Reckless by Kami Garcia

I enjoyed this one too. It didn’t blow me away  but I liked the cheesiness that came with it! Still I NEED MORE STREET RACING!!! My Full Review

Cress by Marissa Meyer

Once again, I couldn’t tamper my temptation so I gave in and read one of the best books in existence! My fangirling post will be long and gify for this one.

Hinder by Kristin Ping

I had some issues with this book, but I guess it was an alright read after everything. My Full Review

Sabriel by Garth Nix

A classic fantasy I have been meaning to get too and I finally have! While it was a little tough to get into, I really enjoyed it! Review to come!

I don’t think I bought many books this month, but I did go to the library twice and had quite the adventure there.

From the library I collected…

The Last of August by Brittany Callavaro
The Lovely Reckless by Kami Garcia
Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas
Sabriel by Garth Nix
I’m Not Your Manic Pixie Dream Girl by Gretchen McNeil
The Reader by Traci Chee
Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

I didn’t buy anything this month……so I feel like that is quite the accomplishment.

Well basically my TBR is my library haul since I have a due date for them. I’ve already managed to get some of them down, but I still have quite a lot of things to get through.

Plus, I really really really really want to read Winter by the end of the month! Not to mention I have a whole bunch of ebooks to get to as well!

Plus, I have to read the ACOTAR series and Truthwitch (before Maz kills me).

For a short section, it is a rather long list.

But when are TBRs ever short?

Well that basically has been my life for the past couple weeks. There is so much blogging I want to get done, but also so much reading. Yet, I feel like I’m not managing my time good, which makes me crazy!

But I will get to it!

I must!

Wish me luck!!!

Let me know what your favourite book of last month was! Or what your most anticipated read is this month! I cannot wait to hear about all your choices!

Happy reading!
