Unpopular Opinions Book Tag

Greetings Readers!

If there is one thing I love to do on my blog is spillllllllll my unpopular opinions. Things that I don’t find quite amazing that others fawn over, or things that I fawn over that others hate. It truly makes for some good drama and me?…Well I love me some drama!

Let’s get started! *evil laughter*

A POPULAR BOOK OR BOOK SERIES THAT YOU DIDN’T LIKE

Red Queen (Red Queen, #1)
via goodreads

Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard

I thought the first book was amazing after having read it, but then I let it simmer and really…it wasn’t all that great. Then I read the sequel which was really boring and just a big nope. I never picked up the third one and now the fourth is coming…….I just don’t know if I will ever get back to that series.

A POPULAR BOOK OR BOOK SERIES THAT EVERYONE ELSE SEEMS TO HATE BUT YOU LOVE

Blood Red Road (Dust Lands, #1)
via goodreads

Dust Land Trilogy by Moira Young

Maybe it’s not hate, but just a big dislike because of how the story is written. The author doesn’t use proper grammar or spelling to really emphasize the rustic-ness of characters. There isn’t even any punctuation really. This bothers a lot of people, but I loved it! I thought it was so cool!

AN OTP THAT YOU DON’T LIKE

Rowan and Aelin a.k.a Rowaelin

I hate them both. Individually and as a couple. Their existence to me is unbearable but I have to bear it for all the secondary characters that I love. But I honestly don’t like these too, I do roll my eyes every time I scroll down Pinterest/Twitter/Tumblr and see something about them. I do not care for them at all. If either of them die…good.

A POPULAR BOOK GENRE THAT YOU HARDLY REACH FOR

Thriller……………………….it’s cuz I’m a big scardy cat and I just can’t do the intense twist and brain melters! Also, horror because, again, tooooo scary!

A POPULAR/BELOVED CHARACTER THAT YOU DO NOT LIKE

Geez other than Rowan and Aelin?

Cal from the Red Queen series

I found him really boring, dry and just a big baby. No thanks, I liked Maven more and we all know how that turned out to be.

A POPULAR AUTHOR THAT YOU CAN’T SEEM TO GET INTO

John Green.

I never actually even read one of his books….I’ve never had the inclination to. I watched The Faults in Our Stars movie, but I still have no desire to read the book. I don’t even know what his new book with the turtles is about. Just nope.

A POPULAR BOOK TROPE THAT YOU’RE TIRED OF SEEING

Love triangles need to stop. Just nope. Nope. Nope.

A POPULAR SERIES THAT YOU HAVE NO INTEREST IN READING

City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1)
via goodreads

City of Bones….and that entire series by Cassandra Clare. Even though I’ve read the first chapter of City of Bones, I never continued. There are way too many books in the Shadow Hunters world that I just will never have the inclination to start them now!

THE SAYING GOES “THE BOOK IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN THE MOVIE”, BUT WHAT MOVIE OR TV SHOW ADAPTATION DO YOU PREFER MORE THAN THE BOOK?

I actually don’t have an answer…

I haven’t read enough book to Movie/TV adaptations to judge. I’ve either read the book or haven’t watched the movie or vice versa! But like I’m pretty sure I like the Princess Diaries movies more than I would the books (If I were to ever read them)

I Tag…

Oh gosh, everyone has done this tag…but I’ll still tag a few of my new blogger friends! *no pressure to do it if you already have!*

Happy reading!

  1. I’ve heard of the Red Queen series, but I’ve never really had the urge to pick them up either. 😐
John Green books aren’t for everyone. I find him to be hit or miss for me, personally. But I’m still interested in his new one, mainly because it’s a mystery, and because the main character has OCD, and it is probably realistic, as I read somewhere that he actually does have OCD.

  2. Thanks for tagging me Rendz!! I agree about Red Queen. I’ve read the 1st and 2nd but have no intention of reading the 3rd. There was a time when I avoided thriller and horror but I’ve read 2 horror novellas this year and I have a thriller novel to read soon. I feel so proud of myself😂😂😂 As always, we differ about Rowan and Aelin. I started reading Looking for Alaska by John Green once. I actually liked it. About the Mortal Instruments series, I am NEVER reading it. I’ve already read The Infernal Devices Series with the same old Shadowhunter thing and the end really got me angry (some people actually like the series BECAUSE of the end but not me.)
Sorry for writing another long ass comment😊

    1. Lol I love long ass comments, no need to apologize! I don’t think I ever even read the synopsis for book 3 of Red Queen, the interest is just not there for me anymore! My sister actually read the Infernal Devices and she hated the ending too, so I’ll take both of your words for it 😉 Enjoy the tag!

  3. I agree so much with Rowaelin! I loved them as friends but as soon as they got together I did a massive eye roll and it has never stopped. I purely continue reading the series for Dorian haha

  4. Oooooooooh, I love me some unpopular opinions, and yours were great, Rendz! ❤ Have we ever discussed Red Queen? I can't remember if we have, but I SO AGREE. I thought that Cal was soooooooooooooo boring, and I did not like him as well. You so nailed it. And I totally agreed with how I much preferred it at the end of reading it, but then you're right, letting it simmer made it fall appear. (And you didn't miss anything with the one John Green book I did read). Wonderful answers, Rendz! ❤

    1. Thanks Mandy!! I don’t think we have discussed RQ, but like meh it really wasn’t all that amazing. Like when I think about it know, I don’t know why I felt so omgomgomgomg when really it was just a big O_O *shrugs* Which John Green book? I don’t plan on reading it, but I’m curious lol!

      1. I KNOWWWWW. You summed it up so brilliantly. I do still use it for my big shocker answer, though. XD Lol! I read The Fault In Our Stars. My best friend forced me into it, and I’m like, okay, literally everyone is in love with it and sobbing over it. I hated the two main characters (they were like one person??? and so pretentious) and then I literally didn’t even care when the death occurred. I’m like, I should be an emotional bucket right now and I literally went eh, and moved on. XD And then my lovely friend bought me Paper Towns for my birthday that year after I vowed never to read another John Green novel. XD

  5. I agree with so many of your answers!! I hated Red Queen. Hated it with a passion. Despite that, I read the sequels and have actually liked them so that surprised me a lot (I still think the characters are really dumb though). And I’ve tried on several occasions to read Blood Red Road but I just can’t get into the way it’s written. Maybe I’ll try again some day cause I hear nothing but good things about the story.

    1. I’m still debating the Red Queen series, I just can’t see myself getting behind the main characters! I totally get your turn off from Blood Red Road, it can get a little confusing, but the ending is soo worth it! I’m still so shook.
