Greetings readers!
I was tagged by Mandy @ Book Princess Reviews to do the Burn, Rewrite, Reread tag! I saw this tag floating around the blogosphere a while ago and I’m so glad I finally get to take part in it! So, thank you Mandy for tagging me!! If you haven’t followed Mandy yet, do yourself a favour and do it!
THE RULES
- Randomly choose 3 books (Tip: Use the “Sort > Random” option on your Goodreads’ Read shelf.).
- For each group, decide which book to burn, which one to rewrite, and which to reread (a lot like Kiss, Marry, Kill).
- Repeat until you completed three rounds (or six).
ROUND 1
Burn: The Raven Boys by Maggie Steifvater. Sorry guys…but I have higher priorities. And although I liked this book, I can live without it!
Rewrite: The Wrath & the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh. Despite how much I loved this book, it could use a little more development in the curse aspect in my opinion. Oh and more Despina and Jalal!
Reread: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis. No brainer here.
ROUND 2
Burn: A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray. I liked this book, I still need to read the third book but I found the main character quite whiny and she did not think things through!
Rewrite: REPLICA by Lauren Oliver. This had such a great concept! Especially with the whole flip book thing, but it just wasn’t thrilling or action-y enough! MORE ACTION PLEASE! But keep that Narnia reference!
Reread: Gathering Darkness by Morgan Rhodes. This is the book where I fell in love with Magnus Damora…so yeah…..
ROUND 3
*such a hard round!*
*CRIES*
Burn: Shadow & Bone by Leigh Bardugo. I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I do love this series but this is being imaginary burned as a sacrifice for my love for the other books!
Rewrite: The Scorpio Races by Maggie Steifvater. If it were up to me I would add a little more on Puck’s family and some more kissy scenes with Sean!
Reread: Cinder by Marissa Meyer (my Queen) I ACTUALLY WILL BE REREADING THIS SO LOOK AT THAT!
ROUND 4
Burn: The Bitter Kingdom by Rae Carson. I really liked this series because it had some Spanish fire…but it just did not live up to the epicness I was hoping it would.
Rewrite: The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski. I LOVE this book, but it comes with its drawbacks. It gets a little boring sometimes so I would add in a little more drama!
Reread: Winter by Marissa Meyer (my Queen) One of the best books I have ever read! EVER. Also, Thorne.
ROUND 5
Burn: Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas. This book can burn in real life and I wouldn’t care. LET IT BURN. LET IT CRUMPLE. LET IT BE WASHED OFF THE FACE OF THIS EARTH!
*all gifs via giphy.com*
Rewrite: Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. I liked this but I didn’t love it. Maybe I would just make it a little more juicy. I read this ages ago so I don’t remember much!
Reread: The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi. So beautiful, I was rereading my favourite parts the other day! Utter perfection.
I tag…
*No need to do this, if you have already done this!*
Happy re-reading (burning and rewriting)!
~ Rendz
I just finished Gathering Darkness and this is also where I fell in love with Magnus Damora. The epitome of a hate-to-love relationship on the reader’s end.

I KNOW RIGHT! That’s the perfect way to explain it!

I hated him so much in book one. He was all right in RS, and maybe that’s cause I love the arranged marriage thing. But in GD I fell completely in love with him.

The whole “in love with his sister” was a real turn off!

Yup. It nearly made me quit reading but I’m so glad I didn’t! Now I really need Frozen Tides, simply for Magneo. I ship them so so so hard.

Thanks for tagging me, Rendz! And AAGHH The Lunar Chronicles is just too good, isn’t it? 😛 I started read The Scorpio Races but just couldn’t continue — but I’m hoping to finish it sometime! And yeah, Replica definitely could’ve had more action haha!

Great tag, I loved The Scorpio Races but agree that parts of it could have been more developed and I’m all for more kissy scenes. Thanks so much for tagging me.

I felt actual fear for you for The Winner’s Curse and Winter. I’m like, HOW WILL SHE CHOOSE? I KNOW SHE LOVES BOTH DEARLY. But super yay for Winter! And I was dying with the gifs. XD And for a second, for the first one, I was like, I wonder what…nope, Narnia will totally be reread. XD Wonderful post, Rendz!!

Great post! Loved how you handled your options. And no lie I probably would have burned Queen of Shadows too. Sorry, not sorry!

First of all, I’ll forgive you for burning Shadow and Bone, just because you explained your situation… And because you chose to burn Queen of Shadows MWAHAHAHAHA!
I would too. Kind of. Not really because I don’t burn any books, ever, but yeah, spiritual burning. That book deserves to die.
And Magnus! ❤ I admit I didn't like it very much in the beginning and sort of wanted to choke/slap him repeatedly but now I'm totally on board and he's part of my OTP ❤ ❤
Loved the tag, Renz!!

I was about to start screaming at you for burning Shadow and Bone! And while I haven’t read the other two books in that round, I can totally understand your reasoning and that you did what you had to do XD
